EGI2024

At the EGI2024 annual conference in Lecce, experts from international scientific communities, computing service providers, European projects, and policymakers came together to advance research and innovation in data-intensive processing and analytics. The event highlighted a strong collaboration between industry and innovation research, with a significant focus on practical applications and their transformative potential.

The ACES project featured prominently, showcasing its innovative Edge-as-a-Service (EaaS) platform, designed to be self-organising, self-orchestrating, and self-optimising. This edge system offers a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to centralised cloud models, particularly suited for supporting the development of innovative e-government services and digital services of collective interest. ACES’ presentation demonstrated how edge technologies can enhance the agility and efficiency of public service delivery, aligning with the digitalisation goals of modern governments.

ACES had a dedicated booth where project representatives shared insights and engaged in discussions about their approach. In addition to this, they hosted a conference session on the role of trustworthy AI in managing edge-cloud services, exploring the security and reliability of these systems. Furthermore, ACES provided a live demo of their technological implementation, showcasing the platform’s real-world capabilities. This combination of presentations, discussions, and demonstrations underscored the practical applications of ACES’ work, fostering rich exchanges between industry and academia.
